About TrimCargo
Every survey is different.
Draft surveying is more than a simple exercise in arithmetic. The calculations are grounded in science, but applying them safely is a professional art.
Every vessel, cargo sequence and trimming operation behaves differently, so a reliable result depends on accurate observations, sound inputs, situational awareness, experience and professional judgement.
Professional judgement
The calculation is only one part of the work.
Observe
Start with accurate readings, vessel information and the conditions in front of you.
Reassess
Follow how trim, list, ballast, loading rate and the vessel response change.
Decide
Use experience, situational awareness and professional judgement before acting.
Professional work under real pressure
Stay ahead of a changing operation.
A skilled marine draft surveyor or ship officer must stay proactive, understand what the vessel is doing and reassess the plan as conditions develop.
Trim, list, ballast movements, cargo distribution, loading rates, water conditions and the vessel's response can all change during an operation. Cargo operations also do not happen in isolation.
The same professional may be coordinating ballasting, attending audits or other surveys, communicating with ship and shore teams and responding to commercial pressure while loading continues at a high rate. In that environment, a missed limit or overlooked detail can have serious consequences.
One working voyage
From the ship's office to the palm of your hand.
TrimCargo is designed to move with the survey while keeping cross-device continuation optional and under the user's control.
- 01
Begin in the ship’s office
Set up or review the voyage on the larger Windows workspace.
- 02
Carry the survey with you
Where the relevant app and optional transfer are available, continue draft checks and calculations on your phone.
- 03
Return to review and report
Use the larger screen for detailed checking, reconciliation and reporting.
Cross-device continuation is not automatic. Availability depends on the relevant app and optional transfer workflow.
Where TrimCargo helps
A clearer view of the developing situation.
TrimCargo brings survey calculations, running cargo estimates, projected drafts, cargo-trimming checks and configured loading-limit checks into one focused workspace.
Aid, warning and review—not a replacement for judgement.
TrimCargo is designed to help identify potential limit breaches before an intended action, provided the correct observations, data and limits have been entered.
Poor input produces poor output. The user remains responsible for checking the inputs, understanding the vessel and deciding what action is safe and appropriate.
About the developer
Maritime experience, independently developed.
TrimCargo is independently developed by Syed Ali, an Australian-based marine draft surveyor with seagoing and shore-based maritime experience. His background includes shipboard watchkeeping and officer duties, bulk-cargo operations, draft surveying, vessel inspections and cargo-operation support.
Syed holds a Bachelor of Applied Science (Nautical Science) and an Advanced Diploma of Applied Science (Nautical Science) from the Australian Maritime College at the University of Tasmania.
An independent personal project.
TrimCargo began as a personal project to bring draft-survey calculations, cargo-trimming checks, voyage records and reporting into one focused workspace.
It is not developed for, sponsored by, endorsed by or affiliated with any third-party software provider. It does not replace a company-approved system, vessel procedures, official software or professional judgement.
Help test TrimCargo
Professional experience can help shape the apps.
Experienced marine surveyors, ship officers and maritime professionals are invited to test the apps and provide practical feedback. Testing remains private and access varies by platform.
Test information and feedback must not include employer-confidential, vessel-sensitive or personal information.
Evaluate before operational use
Use the Test Vessel Demo and review the calculation guide. Deflection forecasts and simulation warnings remain advisory.
